Forming a study group is a very effective strategy for enhancing learning. It is because when different students meet, new ideas are shared, and understanding of knowledge evolves. Studying in a group is more advantageous than studying alone. Groups share unique insights and learn more from each other.
Nowadays, having a study group and using it for other beneficial purposes also is conventional. Generally, we get bored while studying alone, whereas, when we study in a group, new theories and questions arise which keep our minds working. Study groups are particularly effective for completing any projects, developing presentations, and preparing for exams.
A study group can help you in learning in many ways.
It broadens your thinking for a single topic.
This can help you in gaining more knowledge about the subject topic. When you think from a wider perspective, your mind runs faster and you can discover more about the topic. Also, when other members of the group present their points, you are exposed to newer ways.
Discussions and communications make a topic retainable in our minds.
When we converse with our friends, it naturally finds a permanent space in our minds. We tend to remember conversations with our friends for years. If we study together, we might remember the academics also. Also, friends can turn any serious thing into something interesting. So they help us in developing our communication and creativity skills.
Increase in confidence level
When we present our thoughts and our skills in front of other members, our hesitation level decreases. When we present a topic in front of more than one person, we feel the responsibility of reading a chapter or learning any points which we generally ignore when we study alone. It also increases a sense of responsibility in us. Also, there comes a sense of competition which lets us work harder to get better at it.
Building teamwork spirit
Many times we have to work in a team to achieve a goal. Through a study group, we learn to work jointly. Our thought process, the ability to listen, and learning increases.
You get support
Sometimes when we are unable to learn any topic or we lose marks in any subject, we give up. This is because we don’t have anyone for suggestions or someone to support us. However, when we have a study group, our friends are there to help us learn a topic better. They provide us with emotional and mental support, encouraging us to continue with our efforts (even when our parents also needle us).
So remember that - TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK..!
