A new age blended classroom must combine traditional curriculums with technology, to ensure that students are able to receive the maximum through online education. In 2018, Cisco published a report underlying the key factors to create a successful environment using technology in the classroom. Three years hence, this report contains vital information to create an optimal learning environment online as countries around the world struggle to dispense uninterrupted classes.
We may have to view this information less like a coffee table read and more like a sermon from the Bible of technology driven education post Covid-19.
So teachers, faculty members and mentors start taking notes on the essential four areas of concentration for online education-
#1- Critical Thinking Using Ed-tech.
In a country that historically supported rote-learning, we need to push conceptual knowledge building in classrooms. Technology can be used for customized learning and special education. Teachers should be on the lookout for integrating new technology into their classrooms.
#2- Collaboration and Teamwork
Industries and workplaces these days flourish under collaborative environments instead of competitive ones. Online learning gives teachers the opportunity to increase their interaction with students in an environment that they are comfortable in. Encouraging group participation and collective problem solving will foster team building and collaboration.
#3- Communication
Clear lines of communication must be established to ensure that teachers and students can make most of their learning/teaching time. Opening up multiple channels of communication will ensure students with different needs can communicate their requirements to the teacher. Along with this, maintaining contact with student’s parents to get an overall understanding and feedback of online education is necessary.
#4- Creativity
Promoting outside-the-box thinking among students is very important. Several ed-tech outlets are working towards doing just that. We are a leading ed-tech start-up that aims to stimulate young minds through creative endeavours. Teachers should partner up with organizations such as ours in this effort.
