What are the ways to transform your student’s learning?
Your students may already be really knowledgeable about topics you’re teaching them and that can be due to various reasons either through the internet, TV, or books.

As a teacher, you may yourself become tired of teaching the same thing again and again to a rather indifferent audience. The need to change and transform the learning process with time is a necessary one if not for the benefit of the learners, then for the sake of the teacher’s sanity.

So, here are some ways to transform your student’s learning, and make it an exciting process for both you and them.

Understand what they already know

Your students may already be knowledgeable about topics you’re teaching them and that can be due to various reasons either through the internet, TV, or books.

So, before you begin the class, try to gather what it is that they already know. In this way, you won’t be boring them, and also save a lot of time. Appreciate their knowledge, then build upon this previous information.

Make them work together

When sitting among each other in a group discussion or other activities, children tend to exchange information and learn better.

This might help them understand things better than they would in a traditional classroom setup. Let them interact with each other, exchange information, and help each other get their work done. This would even help them in team building and group activities.

Organize activities and games relevant to the lessons

One of the most enjoyable things for a student is when their teacher understands the need for entertainment and fun.

Favorite teachers are usually those who spend the least time lecturing and most time interacting. They have a good time with their students - while, at the same time, unconsciously making the children learn. So, whether you are teaching chemistry, or maths, or languages, make sure you bring up some creative game or activity to keep the children involved in your subject, learn the practical use of the subject, and then eventually get them to love it.

Use modern technology in your classes

Never underestimate the power of a simple Youtube clip or just a fascinating illustrated Power-Point presentation in grabbing the attention of students.

I have seen it time and time again - the most boring of lessons can be made lively if you just have some people on Youtube make a short video of it and you play it to the class. More exciting still is if you can find a movie that is engaging enough for the lessons, and show it to the class once in a while.

Encourage class discussions, questions

Don’t be condescending in your teaching approach.

Only a self-conscious insecure teacher would rub it into his/her students all the time that they know more than them. When a question or doubt arises in class, no matter how silly it may seem to you, never brush it away arrogantly. On the contrary, encourage it, and allow the class to sometimes discuss and come up with the answer by themselves. This would promote them to think for themselves and learn to put their newfound knowledge to use.

Students will probably be just as excited to learn as you are to teach them. So, keep your enthusiasm high because teaching is a wonderful, important job - you hold the upbringing of the next generation in your hands!
